Number 17

Woohoo. Another painting finished today. Again it is a smaller gouache. It is another painting where an object is pictured in the landscape. The intention is to relate the open-cut mine site to our everyday lives. Rather than picturing people in the landscape, I have instead referenced them through objects that people may be associated with. In this painting I was thinking of the young tradie on a sizeable income with money to spend on toys. The V8 ute becomes almost the cliche for this demographic. The idea for this painting really began with the play on words in the title.
